    The WJES 2022 Research Recommendation Competition is aimed at assessing the contribution of academic activities, government officials, institutions/agencies and the general public who are either resident in Western Java or nationally and internationally who have a mindset to advance Western Java.

    This year, the WEST JAVA ECONOMIC SOCIETY raised the main theme "Joint Steps to Advance the West Java Economy Through Acceleration of Investment, Infrastructure, Digitalization and Implementation of the Green Economy". The research results of all participants will be used as policy recommendations for progress in West Java, where the submission of these recommendations will be submitted to the Western Java Annual Meeting (PTBI) of West Java.

    The second stage is an abstract evaluation by the reviewer and 60 participants are selected where the participants are required to submit a full paper. The results of the full paper that has been submitted by the participants then enter the third phase of the process of evaluation of full paper by the reviewers to the 17 best full papers that will subsequently go into the judgment process.

    The West Java Economic Society (WJES) Call for Recommendative Paper 2023 aims to gather innovative ideas and breakthroughs from various parties, including academics, government officials, private institutions, agencies, and the public, to accelerate the development and progress of the West Java economy. The research will focus on improving economic resilience and welfare of West Java society through strengthening the domestic economy. The results will be used as policy recommendations for West Java's future development.

    The WJES Call for Recommendative Paper event in 2023 began with the kick-off meeting of WJEs 2023, which aimed to gather input on the potential, opportunities, and challenges of the manufacturing industry in West Java. The event involved accepting 150 abstracts, which were reviewed by the jury team to produce 50 abstracts. The selected full papers were then re-selected, and the 20 best full papers were presented directly to the board of judges, producing 3 winners I, II, and III and 5 other best papers.

    The national seminar activities became the closing network of the WJES Call for Recommendative Paper in 2023, reflecting the contributions of Bank Indonesia and ISEI Bandung Representative of West Java in advancing the West Java economy. The National Seminar was the culmination of the series of activities, which focused on improving the resilience of the Western Java economy through strengthening the domestic economy and digitalization.

    WJES 2024

    “Memperkuat Stabilitas dan Pertumbuhan Ekonomi Jawa Barat Melalui Optimalisasi Peran Infrastruktur, Sumber Pertumbuhan Ekonomi Baru, dan Digitalisasi”

    Disrupsi global yang terjadi di sepanjang tahun 2023, baik dari sisi rantai pasok, volatilitas sektor keuangan, serta fragmentasi geo-ekonomi sangat berpengaruh pada kondisi perekonomian secara nasional. Meski demikian, perekonomian Jawa Barat diperkirakan masih tumbuh kuat di tahun 2023 seiring dengan optimisme sisi permintaan di mana konsumsi RT yang meningkat sebagaimana terkonfirmasi dari Indeks Keyakinan Konsumen (IKK) hasil Survei Konsumen (SK) yang berada di level optimis. Di sisi lain, kinerja dunia usaha juga meningkat sejalan dengan nilai Saldo Bersih Tertimbang (SBT) hasil Survei Kegiatan Dunia Usaha (SKDU) yang meningkat. Perekonomian yang cukup tangguh tersebut tidak terlepas dari kuatnya ekonomi domestik dan inflasi yang terjaga.

    Melihat perkembangan ekonomi terkini maka tema WJES tahun 2024 adalah “Memperkuat Stabilitas dan Pertumbuhan Ekonomi Jawa Barat Melalui Optimalisasi Peran Infrastruktur, Sumber Pertumbuhan Ekonomi Baru, dan Digitalisasi”. Tema ini diangkat juga sebagai bentuk kesinambungan dengan tema WJES periode-periode sebelumnya dengan fokus pada penguatan sinergi dan kolaborasi berbagai pihak terkait di Jawa Barat karena pemerintah daerah membutuhkan dukungan dari berbagai pihak, antara lain lembaga dan instansi, akademisi, pelaku usaha, serta masyarakat umum. Kegiatan WJES 2024 diharapkan menjadi salah satu sarana mengolaborasikan pemikiran dan ajang diskusi sehingga didapatkan rekomendasi kebijakan guna memperkuat stabilitas dan meningkatkan pertumbuhan ekonomi Jawa Barat.

    Sejak tahun 2020 Kantor Perwakilan Bank Indonesia Provinsi Jawa Barat (KPw BI Prov. Jabar) dan Ikatan Sarjana Ekonomi Indonesia (ISEI) Bandung Koordinator Jawa Barat telah melakukan berbagai sinergi dan kolaborasi dalam upaya meningkatkan minat penelitian ekonomi regional dari kalangan akademisi dan masyarakat, serta mendayagunakan hasil riset di bidang ekonomi regional untuk memajukan dan membantu memberikan solusi permasalahan perekonomian daerah, khususnya Jawa Barat. Sinergi dan kolaborasi tersebut dikemas dalam kegiatan West Java Economic Society (WJES), Sebagai kelanjutan dari sinergi di atas serta bentuk upaya mendorong penguatan dan akselerasi perekonomian di Jawa Barat, pada tahun 2024 KPw BI Provinsi Jawa Barat bekerjasama dengan ISEI Cabang Bandung Koordinator Jawa Barat akan kembali menyelenggarakan kegiatan WJES tahun 2024.
