Abstract

Poverty is a complex issue that affects education, health, and the environment, and hinders the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Bandung, with its poverty rate reduced to 3.96% in 2023, shows progress but still requires attention. Entrepreneurial development is seen as a solution for creating jobs and increasing income. Entrepreneurial education in vocational institutions is crucial for strengthening entrepreneurial competencies and supporting poverty reduction and local SDGs achievement. This study analyzes the impact of entrepreneurial education, industry 4.0 readiness, and job creation on the income of vocational graduates in Bandung, and its effects on poverty and SDGs. Using a survey of 200 vocational graduates and Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) technique, the research finds that entrepreneurial training has a significant positive impact on job creation. While industry 4.0 readiness does not significantly affect job creation, vocational education and relevant skills open up job opportunities. Job creation drives income, which significantly affects poverty reduction and the achievement of local SDGs. Policy recommendations include integrating entrepreneurship into vocational education, updating curricula, supporting new entrepreneurs, and developing the local entrepreneurship ecosystem in Bandung.
